The range

A short range, not a catalogue. Each one is chosen because it does a specific job well, and because we can say who makes it and under what quality system.

CEPA90

A high-concentration EPA omega-3, for households wanting a fish oil that is specific rather than general.

RM189

How we choose what to carry

01

We start with the manufacturer

Before a product reaches this catalogue we look at who makes it, where, and under what quality system. If that is hard to find out, we do not carry it.

02

One job, done properly

We would rather stock one well-made omega-3 than six near-identical ones. A short range is easier to stand behind.

03

Answers, not scripts

Questions about dosage, interactions or suitability go to a person who can check with the supplier. If we do not know, we say so.

Why we started

Malaysian shelves carry a great deal of supplement marketing and not much sourcing information. ProvoMed exists to close that gap: fewer products, clearer provenance, and a straight answer when you ask where something comes from.

Reading the label

Supplement labels are not written to be compared. A few things worth knowing before you weigh one product against another, ours included.

EPA and DHA

The two omega-3 fatty acids named on fish oil labels. A bottle may state total fish oil rather than EPA and DHA content, and the proportion varies widely between products. The figure worth comparing is the one per capsule, not per bottle.

Elemental iron

An iron label may state the weight of the iron compound or the weight of the iron itself. They are different numbers for the same capsule. “Elemental” is the one to compare.

Serving size

A 60-capsule bottle at two capsules per serving is 30 servings, not 60. Cost per serving and cost per bottle can rank two products in opposite orders.

Country of manufacture

Where a product is made and the brand that appears on the front are often not the same company. If a label does not say who manufactured it, that is worth asking about.

From the Health Hub

Practical reading, not marketing

Short pieces on the everyday questions our pharmacists actually get asked — storing supplements properly, reading what is on a label, and when something is worth asking a professional about.
